What has been the real condition of Finnjet?

There has been lots of talks about Finnjet still being in excellent condition, due to constant maintenance and recent expensive renovation of interiors. However, alll pictures and videos taken inside are at least 2 years old.

Some people also wrote that last 2 gas turbines were removed (sold away) when the ship was in Genoa, and since then there has been maybe only one working engine for diesel electric propolsion.

To me it looks like the owner at that time (Jeckon International of Liberia) did not have much hope of selling the ship to anywhere else than Rishi Ship Breakers, which then happened in May 2008 according to public sources like Ferry World On-Line.

I do not have any facts to tell, and please tell me if I've misunderstood, but I would assume the owner sold away not only main engines but many other parts as well, before the ship left Genoa, or Jeddah. Including whatever "not mission critical" technical equipment there has been since the ship returned from Baton Rouge USA.

I'm wondering that how would Finnjet look inside nowadays, is it already an empty hull ("Hülse") with just enough technical instruments to operate it's own single engine on sea, but nothing more?

Assuming that nothing much of the glory is left inside, it would explain why business men decided to NOT buy and convert the ship for cruise line use. It would have been too expensive project, eventhough the ship itself already had a price tag of scrap metal.

I think none of those, who really negotiated with Jeckon International in May and June, have encouraged other buyers in public to buy the ship, or commented on the "top condition" of the ship. As if they know something about Finnjet's current condtion, what general public does not know.

On the other hand, at least all life boats are still on their places, so not everything has been dismantled.

The breakers said the interiors are still left untouched and in good condition when she arrived, also I have been in contact with a member of the transfer crew to Alang and he said the same and could not beleive what was their destination when he came on board.

I think the condition is in fact still good, I don't know if Rishi Ship Breakers have however started to rip out the interiors by now... :umm:
