ULTIMATE SOS DISTRESS CALL FOR THE C/F GEORGIOS EXPRESS/ ex- ROI BAUDOUIN

ULTIMATE SOS DISTRESS CALL FOR THE C/F GEORGIOS EXPRESS/ ex- ROI BAUDOUIN

Last night, on the 23rd of March, the c/f Georgios Express / Roi Baudouin of 1965 left the Piraeus area bound for the
Aliaga scrapyards in Turkey where she is expected to arrive tomorrow morning on the 25th of March.

If there is ANYBODY, ANYWHERE interested in saving this gorgeous ship from the brakers' claws, there is still time, before she is broken up, to mobilize and intervene to claim her in order that she will be converted into a Floating Maritime Museum in any part of the world. She was purchased for 300.000 Turkish liras only.

Please pass this S O S message on to ANYONE you believe that might be able or interested to save this ship even at the very last minute.

Hello Django,
i think its not so simpel to save a ship in this time.
Finnjet was beached.
The Hamburg / Maxim Gorki was beached at Alang because The city Hamburg had no realy intresting to save this ship, and in the moment when the first investor stopped his intresting they told, you can bring the ship to Hamburg.
I'm a man with a lot of dreams to save old ships, but if you don't have a city, wich say, we would this ship in hour harbour, you can not do anything.
So we would lose a lot of nice ships in this time.

Hey Holger!

We know, about Finnjet and Maxim Gorki. We feel very sorry about them, believe me, no matter where those ships sailed, no matter if we have never seen them in our ports and seas the loss of them is a loss for the whole maritime family.

We ve been trying hard for over than 1 1/2 for Georgios Express. I can not describe now exactly what has happened but believe me it was a very hard and unfair fight against time and money (really bad combination).

We all know it s late. We just spread all over the world the last call of our beloved ship.

Take Care

Dear Friends,

We are feeling the same outrage, shock and disappointment with what happened to the Roi Baudouin. Even more enraging is the indifference of all those who should have been engaged, mobilized, and assisted in time to save the Roi Baudouin. However, we want to preserve the memory of the ship intact and all in one piece, as if she has always been alive and crossing the seas.

Additionally, we would appreciate if no photographs of the dismantled ship are published through the Internet. There is absolutely no reason to deprive this magnificent vessel of her pride and dignity by exposing her sorry state during the ship breaking process. Besides, the people who gave their passion and time in the endeavor to save the Roi Baudouin certainly do not deserve this kind of photographs. This is the reason why we are asking everybody in Greece and overseas to show respect and avoid publishing any photographs of the ship breaking process.

On the other hand, you can send these photos of the dismantled ship to the appointed officials (Government, Museums, Ministries, etc). Instead of posting these photos online, we wish these photos to be sent in order to act as a reminder to the “officials” of their disrespect of their own heritage. These photos of the ship’s dismantling should serve as a bitter “thank you note” for the “official assistance” in our grassroots campaign to save the Roi Baudouin.

Sincerely,
The Grassroots Campaign to Save and Preserve the Georgios Express (ex. Roi Baudouin)

PS: In memoriam Finnjet
